Standard automotive film is a strong choice for privacy, appearance and glare reduction. Ceramic window tint is the premium option, designed to reject more infrared heat while maintaining a clean, non-metallic finish.

70% is very light, 50% gives a smoked OEM-style look, 20% is a popular dark privacy shade, and 5% is often called limo tint because it provides maximum privacy.

For most vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1985, the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows at least 70%. The same limits do not apply to rear passenger windows or the rear windscreen. Factory glass may already be lightly tinted, so suitability should be checked before adding film.

Avoid lowering newly tinted windows for the period advised by the installer, usually several days. Opening them too soon can catch the film edge before the adhesive has settled.

Once the film has cured, use a soft microfibre cloth and an ammonia-free glass cleaner. Avoid abrasive pads, sharp tools and harsh chemicals near the film edges.
